As an Employer what do I need to do?
Employers should download the HSE free booklet (s)
What do the various courses include?
Each course provides instruction on how to perform specific emergency patient care skills (CPR and First Aid). Please see detailed descriptions of each course provided.
What are Annual Skills Refresher courses?
HSE strongly recommend that everyone who has completed a First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work course attend an annual refresher course to refresh their skills and are up to date with their knowledge. The refresher course is only a 3 hour course.
My First Aid at Work certificate is due to expire. What do I need to do?
To maintain a First Aid at Work qualification you will need to attend the 2 day First Aid at Work (Re-qualification) course before the expiry date shown on your certificate. If you have an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification, you will need to attend the 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work course.
Both of these courses provide you with a new certificate which is valid for three years.
What is the difference between a First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work course?
The First Aid at Work course is a comprehensive three day course that covers everything that you will need to know to be an official first aider within your company, especially those with high risk factors or have a large amount of employees.
The Emergency First Aid at Work course is a one day course which is more appropriate for lone workers such as on-site construction personnel, lorry drivers who need to know the basic emergency patient care skills (CPR and First Aid).
